In April I shot Dan and Dianne’s wedding at the Rose & Crown in Guildford. In my career before photography I was a software engineer and Dan and I worked together for about 9 years at the same company. When you spend that amount of time working together (especially with the amount of ups and downs we faced) you build up a pretty strong friendship and whilst we roll in different social circles Dan has always been one of my best mates.
When I found out that Dan was engaged to Dianne I was so thrilled that I wrote her a facebook message to introduce myself and pass my congratulations. In hindsight it was probably a weird thing to do but hey… I meant it. When they asked me to shoot their wedding it was a real honour because whilst I could have just been invited along as a guest, I feel that the biggest privilege and compliment a couple can give me is to pass me the responsibility of capturing such an important day.
The lead up to this wedding was a difficult one too where Dan was telling me that almost everything that could go wrong seemed to be and even the weather didn’t seem to cooperate. However with all weddings, no matter how the plans are affected, and as I’ve said before, it only matters that you end up married. So when Dianne came through the tunnel and out the other side, they exchanged vows and rings then shared their first kiss.
It was awesome and I was over the moon for them both.
Here are my personal favourite images.
Special thanks again to Adrian for being my right hand man.
