Elijah and Angela were married early March at the Fremantle Town Hall with their reception at the WA Maritime Museum. This was my first time shooting a ceremony and reception at both these venues and what an amazing reception venue the Maritime Museum is… I’m surprised a lot more couples don’t have their reception there because you get the best of both worlds with an indoor/outdoor venue. The ballroom gives you that typical grand hotel feel but outside you step onto a classy rooftop cocktail area with an amazing view of Fremantle port where the river meets the ocean.
Eli and Angela’s wedding was fun and when you look through the photos you’ll see that on the faces of the bridal party. For me though, the most memorable part of the day was Eli’s speech at the end of the night. It was probably the funniest groom speech I’ve ever heard and not in the well-planned, stand-up comedy, well-thought-out kind of way. I’ve heard probably a hundred groom speeches and whilst I could tell Eli planned the outline of his speech, but the delivery… not so much.
He’d say something… realise it didn’t come out as intended and then try to correct its interpretation which just ended up a hilarious mess of double entendres. Most of their friends gobbled it up and were in stiches. Me included… I was laughing so much I couldn’t look through my camera because of the tears in my eyes.
Funny… I never picked that up from Elijah when we’d headed out to their pre-wedding session last spring. That’s probably why it was such a good speech. I really hope someone recorded a video of that.
Here are my favourite images from their wedding.
Thanks to Adrian Tan for his usual awesomeness.
