Jason & Mel tied the knot in an intimate front yard wedding at their home in South Perth. In the lead up to the wedding they both painstakingly renovated and landscaped their newly purchased home to make it perfect for their home wedding and as I wandered through the home I could see so many personal touches that made a wedding at home the perfect choice for them.
When I first met Mel & Jason at my studio, Mel told me she loved the colour in my photos as well as my way of shooting candid photos together with sweeping landscapes. Between the ceremony and reception she wanted photos at the South Perth foreshore and ideally it would be moody with thick clouds topped off with an incredible sunset. She knew that I obviously couldn’t control the weather but hey you can cross your fingers and toes and pray really hard and sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Thankfully in this case, Mel’s wish was a win and there were thick clouds all through the ceremony and by the time we got to the foreshore the sun was peeking through the gaps giving us a gorgeous 45 minute sunset to die for.
This was also my first time working together with Luke Firth and if you go through my images and judge the ceremony by the expressions on Jason & Mel’s faces you can tell it was a cracker. A refreshing take on what I see week after week and I’d say he nailed it.
Another thing I think more people should consider for their weddings is a coffee cart… Jason is a big fan of espresso martini’s and they found out their favourite local cafe Sprolo (www.sprolo.com.au) hire out an espresso cart! Sprolo cafe in South Perth is run and operated by Gabriel Tan and Darren Woon (who happens to be an ex wedding photographer) and behind their cafe they have their own coffee been label Blacklist Coffee (www.blacklistcoffee.com.au). If you’re in the market for some seriously good coffee, do yourself a favour and pop in!
