Jeremy & Tiffanie’s wedding was held at two of my favourite venues in Swan Valley. Their wedding was at Caversham House with the reception at Stewart’s Restaurant in Brookleigh Estate. Well Caversham, I shoot there many times every season and I love that they look after wedding vendors really really well. They have a beautiful venue and really know what they’re doing. Stewart’s though probably isn’t quite as well known and I’ve only shot there 4 or 5 times but it has a personal connection for me. Back about 6 years ago our church youth would have small gatherings there. They have a mid-sized cabin that can sleep mabe 30 or 40 guests quite comfortably and I remember wandering around at night shooting the stars and horses when I was starting my photography journey. I remember laying back on chairs trying to take photos of shooting stars and never guessed that I’d be back there today shooting weddings.
Jeremy & Tiffanie’s wedding was quite small (as far as asian weddings go) and I always think that smaller weddings are much more fun for the bride and groom… easier to talk to each of the guests. We took photos around Caversham House in some of my favourite spots and I took them up to bells rapids. We almost got their car stuck in a ditch and I was getting worried we wouldn’t be able to get the bride and groom back to the ceremony. I guess we learnt a lesson that 2WD SUVs aren’t exactly made for off-roading. Still we managed to get free and back to the restaurant on time. If you’re in Swan Valley, stop and have lunch at Stewart’s and as you enter Brookleigh Estate you’ll see this gorgeous entry statement of tall eucalypts leading to a majestic gate. I always wanted to shoot a couple in front of that gate and after the stressful mishap at bells rapids, I didn’t think Jeremy & Tiffanie would be up for it but they were and the image above is the result.
